TL;DR
- Monthly rates are custom quotes through our inquiry form — not instant checkout.
- 28+ days typically lands 40–50% below the daily rate; the exact quote depends on season and class.
- Unlimited mileage stays included, insurance runs the full term, and we swap the car if anything breaks.
- Cars are available year-round, including the whole winter.
Staying in Dubrovnik for a month or longer — remote work, a seasonal contract, or a slow winter on the Adriatic? Renting by the month costs far less than stringing weekly bookings together, and we handle every long rental as one continuous agreement: one contract, one insurance term, one car (or a swapped one if anything goes wrong). One thing to know up front: monthly rates are custom quotes through our inquiry form, not instant checkout.
How does monthly pricing work?
Every rental of 28 days or more is priced individually — you send your dates through the inquiry form and Paula replies with a fixed, all-inclusive quote. As a rule of thumb, 28+ days typically lands 40–50% below the daily rate; the exact figure depends on the season your stay falls in and the car class you pick.
Here is what that framing looks like against our published high-season daily rates:
| Class | High-season daily rate | Indicative 28+ day rate |
|---|---|---|
| Economy — Fiat Panda or similar | €39/day | €20–23/day |
| Compact — VW Golf or similar | €54/day | €27–32/day |
| Compact Automatic — Opel Astra | €62/day | €31–37/day |
| Compact SUV — Nissan Qashqai | €72/day | €36–43/day |
| 9-Seater Van — Opel Vivaro | €129/day | €65–77/day |
The right-hand column is simply 40–50% off the daily rate — treat it as orientation, not an offer. From November to April the daily rates themselves run roughly 30–40% below this table, and the long-term discount is applied to whatever seasonal rate covers your dates, which is why winter monthly quotes are the cheapest way to keep a car here. If you specifically want an automatic, our automatic rentals page covers the options; for stays under four weeks, our cheap car rental page explains how short-term pricing works.
Who rents by the month here?
Three groups, mostly. First, remote workers on Croatia’s digital-nomad residence permit, which allows stays of up to 12 months — application details are on the Croatian Ministry of the Interior site. A car turns the permit’s biggest limitation (Dubrovnik is compact, but the good beaches, markets, and hiking are spread along 60 km of coast) into a non-issue. Second, seasonal workers on May–October contracts in hotels and restaurants, who need reliable transport between Gruž, the airport at Čilipi, and Cavtat. Third, long-stay visitors wintering here, when apartments cost a fraction of the summer price and the roads are empty.
Whatever your reason, the terms are the same: minimum driver age 21 (23 for SUV, convertible, or van), license held at least 2 years, young-driver fee of €7/day under 25.
What changes on a long-term rental?
Almost nothing you’ll notice, and the two things that do change are our job, not yours.
Service intervals. Our cars are under three years old and Ivan, our fleet manager, keeps them on schedule. On a two- or three-month rental your car may hit a service milestone; we book the garage slot, hand you a replacement for the day, and return your car serviced. You never pay for maintenance.
Tire season. If your rental runs into late autumn, we handle the seasonal changeover. Croatian rules require winter equipment on designated roads in the cold months, and dipped headlights are mandatory from the last Sunday of October to the last Sunday of March — HAK, the Croatian Auto Club, publishes current road conditions and winter-equipment rules.
Mileage. Nothing changes: it stays unlimited. Drive the Pelješac Bridge corridor to Split every weekend if you like — no border checks, no mileage math. Day trips to Montenegro or Mostar are allowed too, with a €45 cross-border fee including the green card, arranged at booking.
What about insurance and breakdowns?
Your cover runs continuously for the whole term. CDW insurance and theft protection are included from day one to the day you hand the keys back — no mid-rental renewals, no paperwork at the 30-day mark, no gaps. A second driver is free, which matters when two of you share a long stay.
If anything breaks, our swap-car guarantee applies: call the 24/7 roadside line, and if the fault can’t be fixed on the spot we replace the car with the same class or better and your rental continues on the same terms. On a five-day holiday a breakdown is an annoyance; on a three-month rental it can’t be allowed to strand you, so we don’t let it.
Can I keep a car all winter?
Yes — we operate year-round. From November to April the office at Vukovarska 17 in Gruž runs 09:00–17:00 Monday–Saturday, and the roadside line stays on 24/7. Winter is also when monthly rentals make the most financial sense: seasonal daily rates drop 30–40%, the long-term discount comes off that lower base, and availability is wide open across every class.
One practical note for long-stayers living centrally: the Old Town is pedestrian-only and street parking in zones 1–3 is charged, so most monthly renters park at the Ilijina Glavica garage or keep apartments with parking in Gruž or Lapad. Our Old Town page covers the parking picture in detail.
How do I request a monthly quote?
- Send your dates, preferred class, and pickup point — the Gruž office or the airport at Čilipi, 20 km south — through the inquiry form.
- Paula replies with a fixed all-inclusive quote, usually within the hour during working hours (08:00–20:00 daily in season).
- Confirm by email, then pay at pickup — Visa, Mastercard, Amex or cash. No deposit on economy class, and cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup.
That’s the whole process — no membership, no subscription product, no small print that surfaces in week six. Tell us how long you’re staying, and we’ll price the car to match.
Quick answers
What's the minimum duration for a long-term rate?
28 days. Anything from 28 days up qualifies for monthly pricing, which typically lands 40–50% below the standard daily rate. Shorter stays book at normal daily rates through instant checkout.
How much does a monthly rental cost?
It's a custom quote through our inquiry form — expect roughly 40–50% below the daily rate for 28+ days. An economy car at €39/day in high season usually works out around €20–23/day on a monthly basis.
Do you rent to digital nomads on Croatia's residence permit?
Yes. The digital-nomad permit allows stays of up to 12 months, and we quote month-to-month or for the full term. All we need is a license held for 2+ years and a driver aged 21 or over.
Are cars available through the winter?
Yes, we rent year-round. From November to April daily rates already run 30–40% below high season, and the long-term discount is applied to the seasonal rate in effect for your dates.
Is mileage capped on long rentals?
No. Mileage stays unlimited however long you rent, insurance runs continuously for the full term, a second driver is free, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included.
