About Dubrovnik Car Rent
Last updated: 2026-06-25
Dubrovnik Car Rent is a small, family-run rental company based in Gruž, the harbor district next to the city’s main port. We are not a franchise desk, a broker, or a booking portal reselling someone else’s fleet. The three of us own the cars, wash them, answer the phone, and hand over the keys ourselves. Our office is at Vukovarska 17, a short walk from the cruise terminal, and we run a second pickup point at Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) in Čilipi, about 20 km — a 25-minute drive — south of the city.
Being small is the point. There is no call center, no counter queue, and no upsell script. When you email us, the person who writes back is the same person who will see you at pickup. And when something goes wrong on the road, our 24/7 assistance line is answered by someone who knows exactly which car you are driving — because he serviced it himself.
Who runs Dubrovnik Car Rent?
Three people, and you will likely deal with all of them. Paula Marković handles bookings and guest relations; she answers every inquiry personally, usually within the hour during working hours, and her WhatsApp replies typically arrive in under ten minutes. Ivan Radić manages the fleet and keeps every car serviced, cleaned, and under three years old. Marko Vlašić leads the airport desk, running our meet and greet at DBV and tracking every arriving flight so a late landing never costs you a booking. When you collect your car, one of these three will be holding the keys.
What do we promise every renter?
Four things, and they apply to every booking, in every season:
- All-inclusive pricing. The price you see is the price you pay: unlimited mileage, CDW insurance, theft protection, a free second driver, 24/7 roadside assistance, a full-to-full fuel policy, and no credit-card surcharge. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup, and there is no deposit on economy class.
- Cars under three years old. Ivan retires every vehicle before its third birthday, so you never collect a tired car at the end of its working life.
- Our own workshop. We service and repair the fleet ourselves rather than outsourcing it. That means faster turnaround between rentals — and if a fault does appear, we fix it or swap the car instead of arguing about it.
- We meet every flight. For airport pickup, Marko tracks arrivals in real time. If your flight lands two hours late, he is still waiting at arrivals with your name on a sign — no desk queue, no extra charge.
Why does being local matter?
Because your rental works the way the city works. We tell you which mornings the cruise ships fill Gruž, where to park near the Old Town (it is pedestrian-only — the nearest garage is Ilijina Glavica), and whether the Pelješac Bridge or the coastal road makes more sense for your Split day trip. A franchise counter reads from a screen; we drive these roads every day.
